Devil’s Lake - September 2026
Our annual outdoor climbing trip to Devil’s Lake is always one of our favorite days of the year and after leaving a stormy Chicago behind, we lucked out with some beautiful weather at the lake.
As with all years we had a good mix of experience from first-time outdoor climbers to returnees from previous trips. Thanks to our friends at Devil’s Lake Climbing Guides for keeping everyone safe and allowing us to find the best crags for the day. We had plenty of time on the rocks and good opportunities to practice our safety skills.
We’re proud to keep creating opportunities for young climbers to get outside, challenge themselves, support one another, and experience the joy of climbing on real rock.
This year, we switched up the traditional post-climbing ice cream stop for turnovers and donuts at Ski-Hi — not a bad way to end the day.
Devil’s Lake - September 2025
Chicago Climbs took it back to the outdoors with our second year taking a group from the gym to the great outdoors. This trip demonstrates our ongoing commitment to making climbing accessible and extending new opportunities to Chicago’s youth.

Devil’s Lake - October 2024
Chicago Climbs took its first big leap beyond the walls of the gym and into the great outdoors as the group headed to Devil’s Lake, Wisconsin, for a day of climbing, community, and adventure. This trip marked a milestone for our non-profit, as we continue to make climbing accessible and welcoming to everyone in the Chicago area.
Our group was a diverse mix of climbers—some were tying in for the very first time, while others were pushing their limits on 5.12 routes. It was inspiring to watch everyone support each other, regardless of their experience level. The excitement and camaraderie were contagious, with each climb strengthening not only muscles but connections between all of us.
